Penalised ₹3 lakh by CCPA in November 2024 for misleading advertising, after an earlier notice in October 2023. Its published policy is among the most restrictive we found: no refund on classroom, hybrid or live-online fees, with a minimum 25% deduction even to change course.

Section 01

The arithmetic

Every criterion starts at 100. Below is each point deducted, the published rule that triggered it, and the document it came from. Nothing here is a judgement call.

Grievance Redressal

Not assessed

Documented conduct when enrolled students raise complaints or ask for refunds.

No public record on file touches this criterion, so we do not score it. This is deliberately not the same as a pass.

Section 02

The public record

Each document below is linked to its source. This is the entire evidentiary basis for the grade above — there is nothing else behind it.

  1. 01Regulatory orderAnnounced 13 November 2024

CCPA imposes ₹3 lakh penalty for misleading advertising

CCPA imposed a penalty of ₹3,00,000 on Plutus IAS as part of its action against misleading advertising in the coaching sector, announced on 13 November 2024 with the institute-by-institute breakdown published the following day. This is separate from, and later than, the October 2023 notice recorded below.

  2. 02Regulatory orderReported 30 October 2023

CCPA notice issued in the October 2023 round — a notice, not a penalty

Plutus IAS was one of the institutes issued a CCPA notice in the October 2023 action against IAS coaching centres. A notice is not a penalty and carries no finding of wrongdoing, so it deducts nothing here. It is recorded only because the sequence matters: the penalty above came later and separately.

Published policy: no refund on any course, 25% minimum deduction to change

The published refund policy states that fees for classroom, hybrid and live-online courses are non-refundable, and applies a minimum 25% deduction even where a student is permitted to change course. The Ministry of Education's January 2024 guidelines require a pro-rata refund within 10 days where a student leaves mid-course.

    Section 03

Their policy vs the national standard

    What Plutus IAS publishes

Fees once paid for classroom, hybrid or live online courses are non-refundable under any circumstances.

The published refund policy applies a blanket no-refund rule across classroom, hybrid and live-online courses, and imposes a minimum 25% deduction even where a course change is permitted.

    What the national standard says

Where a student has paid the fee in full and leaves the course in the middle of the prescribed period, the fee for the remaining period is to be refunded on a pro-rata basis within 10 days — including hostel and mess fees, where those were paid.

These are national guidelines that states are asked to adopt; they are not by themselves a penal statute. The enforceable route for an individual student is the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 — deficiency in service and unfair trade practice — through the National Consumer Helpline and the Consumer Commissions.

    Section 04

    What students say

Separate from the evidence above, and separate from the grade. This is where students who actually studied at Plutus IAS describe what they got for their money.

Reviews are the opinions of individual students, published after a moderator checks them. They are not findings of this site or of any regulator, and they have no effect whatsoever on Plutus IAS's grade — that comes only from the documents above.

Reviews are unavailable right now. The grade above is unaffected.

    Student reports

    Report count unavailable

We could not read the report count just now, so we are not showing a number rather than showing one we have not verified. The grade above is unaffected — it comes entirely from the documents on this page.
